Harrisburg was a crossroads on Highway 49 with a few thousand people when Charlotte's growth reached it; today it's one of the fastest-growing towns in the state, with subdivisions filling in along Rocky River Road, Stallings Road, Roberta Road and Highway 49 toward the Speedway. That growth pattern shapes the tree work: builders cleared the pads and left screens of 80-foot loblollies along the back property lines, and twenty years later those pines are the number-one storm hazard in town. Add the Bradford pears planted in every front yard in the late 1990s and the willow oaks that were sold as street trees, and you have Harrisburg's whole tree problem in three species.

The pines behind my house are leaning toward it. What do I do?
Call us for a look. A lean that's been there since the house was built is different from a new lean with heaved soil on the far side — the second one is a removal. Most Harrisburg back-line screens are priced as a group, and taking the two or three worst ones brings the risk way down.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Harrisburg?
For a tree in the yard of an existing home, generally no — Harrisburg's landscaping and tree rules in its development ordinance apply to new development. Required buffer trees on your subdivision's plat and trees in the town right-of-way are the exceptions; we'll check.
Can you clear my lot before the builder starts?
Yes, and it's usually cheaper than having the builder's grader do it. We mulch the brush and small pines, fell and haul the big timber, pull the stumps from the pad and driveway, and fence the trees you want to keep.
